Pharmacology
Regulates the colloidal osmotic pressure of blood. It is used to increase the circulating plasma volume, thereby reducing hemoconcentration and blood viscosity. Also used as a transport protein that binds naturally occurring, therapeutic and toxic materials in circulation.
